Bills vs Patriots Recap
The Buffalo Bills survived a slow start against a resilient New England Patriots team to win 24-21 and move to 12-3 on the year. Drake Maye led the Patriots on back-to-back scoring drives to start the game and build a 14-0 lead. Buffalo fought back with 24 unanswered points, assisted by an improved second-half defensive effort that forced three turnovers.
Bills at Lions Recap
The Buffalo Bills knocked off the Detroit Lions 48-42, ending their 11-game winning streak. Buffalo never trailed in the game, with scores on their first three drives before heading into halftime up 21-14. The second half saw two punts and 55 combined points scored. The Bills capitalized on a fumble that allowed them to stretch their lead to 35-14 and a little breathing room. Jared Goff did his best to bring the Lions back to within a score, but Detroit could not capitalize on two onside kick attempts in the fourth quarter.
Bills at Rams Recap
The Bills came up short in a 44-42 shootout to the Los Angeles Rams, ending their seven-game winning streak and leaving them with a 12% chance at the number one seed in the AFC. The Rams started the game with a 12-play, 70-yard scoring drive, where they went 3-3 on third down with little resistance or pressure from the Bills’ defense. This drive would serve as a precursor for what we would see the rest of the game.
Bills vs Chiefs Recap
The Bills handed the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season to move to 9-2 and close the gap in the race for the AFC’s number-one seed. The Bills finished the game with back-to-back 10+ play-scoring drives, chewing up almost twelve minutes of the game clock for a final score of 30-21. The Bills ended the game instead of giving Mahomes an opportunity to lead a game-winning drive. This was the fifth straight game in which the Bills scored 30+ points.
Bills at Colts Recap
The 8-2 Bills won a turnover-filled affair in Indianapolis for their fifth straight victory and their best start to a season since 1993. Buffalo jumped out to a 10-0 lead fueled by turnovers but quickly saw themselves down 13-10 after a turnover on downs and an interception. They scored 10 points in the final three minutes to take the lead and go into half at 20-13. They wouldn’t look back, stretching the lead to 30-13 before a late touchdown by the Colts to make it 30-20 and hit the over for the gamblers out there.
Bills vs Dolphins Recap
The Bills escaped a nearly perfect game by Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins with a 30-27 victory. The Bills started slow and found themselves down 10-6 at halftime after a Jalen Ramsey interception on a bobbled pass by Keon Coleman ended a promising Bills drive that led to a 14-point swing. The Bills scored points on all four drives of the second half, where we saw five lead changes before Tyler Bass broke a 27-27 tie with a career-long 61-yard field goal with five seconds remaining.
Bills vs Titans Recap
The Bills overcame a slow start and an early 10-0 deficit with 34 unanswered points to defeat the Tennessee Titans 34-10. Josh Allen eclipsed the 300-yard mark for the first time this season while extending his streak of games without an interception to 9, including last year's playoffs. The Bills moved to 5-2 and benefited from the rest of the AFC East teams going winless on Sunday to expand their division lead.
Bills at Jets Recap
Another week, I was wrong with my prediction, but in a good way this time. The Bills rebounded from back-to-back losses on Monday night, winning 23-20 over the New York Jets. Josh Allen avoided the first three-game losing streak of his career with one of his best performances against a team he has struggled against. The Bills' defense stepped up when needed to ensure a much-needed victory that moved the Bills into first place in the AFC East at 4-2 and dropped the Jets to third place at 2-4 behind the idle Dolphins.
Bills at Texans Recap
The Bills continued their trio of away games with another slow start on offense and another loss. Sunday afternoon's 23-20 defeat by the Texans has left fans with more questions about coaching decisions, wondering what happened to the high-flying offense we saw the first three weeks of the season and whether Brandon Beane needs to make a deal.
Bills at Ravens Recap
The Bills started their three-game road trip with a night to forget in Baltimore Sunday night. There aren’t many positive things to take away from their 35-10 loss to the Ravens. The 25-point defeat is the worst regular season loss since their 41-15 defeat to the Indianapolis Colts in 2021. For the first time this season, the Bills were punched in the mouth and unable to respond while being outcoached and outperformed in all facets of the game.
Bills vs Jaguars Recap
The Buffalo Bills showed up Monday night looking like a team prepared to send a message to the rest of the NFL in their 47-10 route of the reeling Jacksonville Jaguars. Josh Allen and the offense scored a touchdown on all five of their first-half possessions to take a 34-3 lead into halftime.
Bills at Dolphins Recap
The Bills enter their mini-bye 2-0 after a resounding 31-10 victory over the Dolphins on Thursday night.
Bills vs Cardinals Recap
The Bills season started a little bumpy against the Cardinals on Sunday before completing consecutive scoring drives to end the first half and begin the second half on their way to a 34-28 comeback win.
Bills vs Panthers Recap
The Bills played their most entertaining game of the preseason Saturday in their final game before roster cutdowns with a 31-26 loss to the Carolina Panthers. All of the expected starters heading into the regular season sat to prevent any more injuries to an already banged-up roster. Some positives came out of this game, but the challenge is how many will translate to the regular season since most players will not be on the 53-man roster after 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
Bills at Steelers Recap
The Bills looked like a more energized team Saturday night vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers compared to their week one performance. The defense played strong from start to finish, led by Greg Rousseau early on and the new fan favorite, Joe Andreessen. Andreessen took advantage of the opportunity provided by the injuries to players ahead of him and took a big step toward securing a spot on the 53-man roster.
Bills vs. Bears Recap
I’ve never heard a player come out and say, “We’re not game-planning for these games,” but it makes sense. I view preseason games as a way to identify players' performance more than the teams’ performance.
