Offseason Priorities: Re-Signing Bills Free Agents
The Buffalo Bills enter the offseason in a much better situation than they have over the past few years after the league announced a salary cap increase of $23.8 million. Buffalo is about $10 million over the cap compared to the $41 million they were last offseason, and they have 12 unrestricted free agents this year compared to the 22 they had in 2024.
Offseason Priorities: Extension Eligible Players
I touched on a list of players drafted by the Bills last year who I believed had earned a contract extension already or would warrant one after this season. Spencer Brown received his at the start of last season, and it’s already looking like a bargain. The five other names I wrote about in that blog have not signed a new deal yet. Shakir joined Brown on Tuesday with his second contract.
15 Million Dollar Man?
Buffalo Bills running back James Cook made some headlines this week by pinning a comment on his Instagram livestream, saying, “15 mill year.” Subsequently, Cook has unfollowed the team on social media. This new move used by athletes in recent years is particularly common during contract negotiations and when the player is unhappy with how things are going.
Five Trade Scenarios For the Bills
The offseason came earlier than any of us had hoped, and it has quickly become a rumor mill of who wants to be traded, along with some confirmed availability of big name players. Below, I will list five trade scenarios for the Bills this offseason that would all make sense based on their current needs.

The Buffalo Bills’ season ends in a heartbreaking loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, 32-29. Bills at Patriots Recap
The Buffalo Bills lose their regular season finale 23-16 to the New England Patriots. The victory, accompanied with Browns, Giants, and Titans losses, knocks the Patriots from the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft to the fourth. Buffalo didn’t seem to mind helping New England edge out the victory and prevent them from securing the top pick. In that regard, it was a strange game, so this will be a much different recap than most.
Week 18: Bills at Patriots Preview
The 13-3 Buffalo Bills head to Foxboro for their last game of the regular season against the 3-13 New England Patriots. The Bills narrowly defeated New England two weeks ago, 24-21. Bills vs Jets Recap
The Buffalo Bills beat the New York Jets 40-14 to finish the regular season undefeated at home while securing their position as the AFC’s number two seed heading into the playoffs. The Jets had three possessions in the first half that resulted in a turnover on downs, an interception, and a safety, allowing Buffalo to take a 12-0 lead into halftime. Buffalo scored 28 straight points in the second half to make it 40-0 before pulling their starters. Tyrod Taylor led two late scoring drives for the Jets.
Week 17: Bills vs Jets Preview
The 12-3 Buffalo Bills welcome the 4-11 Jets to New York for their second matchup of the season. Both teams have gone down different paths since their week six meeting, with the Bills going 8-1 since then and the Jets going 2-7. A victory on Sunday would secure the two seed and cap off Buffalo’s first undefeated record at home since the 1990 season.

Drake Maye led the Patriots on back-to-back scoring drives to start the game and build a 14-0 lead. Buffalo fought back with 24 unanswered points, assisted by an improved second-half defensive effort that forced three turnovers.
Week 16: Bills vs Patriots Preview
The Buffalo Bills return home after their victory over the Detroit Lions to face the 3-11 New England Patriots. This is the first of two matchups over the final three weeks of the season for the AFC East rivals. With the two teams heading in different directions, Buffalo needs to keep its focus and continue its solid play for the remainder of the season. New England wants something positive to end a disappointing season under first-year head coach Jerod Mayo.
Bills at Lions Recap
The Buffalo Bills knocked off the Detroit Lions 48-42, ending their 11-game winning streak. Buffalo never trailed in the game, with scores on their first three drives before heading into halftime up 21-14. The second half saw two punts and 55 combined points scored.
